Criminals are leveraging online channels to advertise counterfeit car and medical coverage at rates dramatically lower than those available through legitimate providers, according to Khaleej Times. These deceptive posts pressure consumers into wiring money immediately, without checking whether the seller is authorised to operate in the UAE.

Officials underscored that genuine insurers function within a rigorous regulatory framework, with established protocols that secure buyer rights and confirm that every policy is authentic. Offers that slash costs well beneath the norm, or guarantee instant documentation that cannot be independently validated, should raise immediate suspicion.

The police department called on individuals to double-check the credentials of any brokerage or firm via government portals prior to handing over funds, and to steer clear of promotions that appear too good to be true.

Anyone who believes they have encountered such a scheme is asked to file a report through the Dubai Police eCrime website or dial 901 for non-urgent enquiries.
