Dubai Police Foil Exchange Office Robbery, Recover AED 10 Million in 10 Minutes
Officers in Dubai brought a robbery at a currency exchange in the Deira district to a rapid close, retrieving roughly AED 10 million within ten minutes of the first alert.
The hold-up took place early one morning when three masked men burst into the exchange. They subdued staff members, smashed security cameras, and escaped with the cash loaded into multiple bags.
One employee later broke free and used his mobile phone to reach the Dubai Police emergency SOS service. The force immediately sealed off the area, shut down likely escape corridors, and rushed patrol units to the site.
Just ten minutes later, a traffic sergeant intercepted the suspects’ vehicle, placed one robber under arrest, and seized the bags holding the stolen money.
The remaining two assailants tried to conceal themselves in an industrial zone, but a police helicopter soon spotted them. Officers then moved in and detained the entire gang.
