A 40-year-old Indian man died from a stab wound to his leg after a social media quarrel turned violent in Sharjah during the early hours of May 31.
The fatal encounter took place in a busy section of Al Nahda. According to legal representatives handling the matter, the victim had been engaged in a heated exchange with another individual during a TikTok live broadcast. The pair traded insults online, and the suspect challenged the victim to meet in person. Investigators believe the two had been involved in a prolonged digital feud.
The man was transported to Al Qassimi Hospital but succumbed to his injuries. A death certificate from the medical facility, reviewed by journalists, lists the cause as an assault with a sharp object leading to hypovolaemic shock.
At the time of his death, the victim was employed at a juice shop in Dubai. He leaves behind a wife and a six-year-old child. He was known to be an active user of TikTok and regularly shared clips on various subjects.
Law enforcement personnel in Sharjah have taken several individuals into custody. The probe remains active as authorities work to establish the full sequence of events.
The victim's remains were flown back to India on June 11 aboard an Air India Express flight departing at 10:40 p.m. His sibling accompanied the body to their family home in Kannur, a district in the southern state of Kerala.
