A British TikTok influencer is detained in Dubai accused of killing her partner during a domestic dispute, as a human-rights group raises concerns over her treatment in custody.

Dubai police arrested 22-year-old British social-media influencer Brooke George and charged her with the premeditated murder of her 26-year-old British partner following an altercation at his home. The case, first reported by Gazeta.pl, has drawn scrutiny from the human-rights group Detained in Dubai over alleged violations during her interrogation.

George, who posts singing and make-up content on TikTok, met the man on Facebook and travelled to the United Arab Emirates to see him. During a second visit, his behaviour reportedly turned controlling and aggressive; he allegedly beat her and confiscated her passport to stop her from returning to the United Kingdom, according to her mother Theresa George and the organisation's chief Radha Stirling.

On the day of the incident, another argument erupted. George claims her partner struck her in the face. Fearing for her life, she grabbed a kitchen knife.

Officers took her into custody on 22 June. Prosecutors filed a charge of intentional homicide. Under UAE law, a conviction could carry the death penalty by firing squad. She remains held at Bur Dubai prison.

Detained in Dubai says investigators forced George to strip in front of officers, denied her access to the British embassy during questioning, and compelled her to give statements without a lawyer present. The group called the affair a serious test of the right to defence, protections for women against violence, and standards of treatment for foreigners in the Emirates.

The organisation has demanded her release on bail, together with medical care, legal assistance and immediate consular support.

The UK Foreign Office confirmed it is in contact with the detained citizen and her family and is cooperating with local authorities in Dubai.
