Sharjah Labourer Loses Appeal, Must Serve Jail Time for Violent Outburst at Work
An appeals tribunal in Sharjah has dismissed a worker's challenge, confirming he must spend four weeks in detention for striking his superior during a workplace dispute.
Records show the Asian defendant approached his boss seeking a raise and holiday leave. When the supervisor informed him the organisation could not accommodate either request owing to financial pressures, the exchange turned physical. The manager later told investigators he sustained injuries to his cranium and facial area during the altercation.
The lower tribunal originally imposed the custodial penalty. The labourer sought to overturn the decision, but the appellate bench found no grounds to alter the outcome and let the sentence stand.
