UAE Narcotics Agency Dismantles Drug Distribution Ring, 24 Arrested

The UAE's narcotics agency thwarted a criminal plot to distribute drugs across the country, khaleejtimes.com reported on Tuesday, June 16, with the Public Prosecution revealing the identities of all 24 individuals involved in the network.

The operation was triggered by intelligence received by the Federal Narcotics Control Prosecution, and was carried out in coordination with Ras Al Khaimah Police. Specialised teams launched search and investigation operations after receiving information that narcotics were concealed at a location in one of the emirates.

After securing the necessary legal warrants, authorities moved in and arrested two members of the criminal gang while they were in the process of transporting a quantity of narcotics. Both suspects subsequently admitted they had received instructions from a key ringleader operating from outside the UAE, who was directing the distribution network remotely.

Investigators extended their surveillance of the site and arrested a further 11 suspects linked to the ringleader, all of whom were involved in distributing narcotics within the country. Subsequent operations spanning Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Ajman resulted in the arrest of 10 additional suspects and the seizure of various quantities of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.

Authorities also uncovered a second storage site containing large quantities of marijuana, hash oil and synthetic cannabinoid papers.

In total, 24 suspects were identified and referred to the competent forensic laboratory along with all seized materials for examination. A team from the Federal Narcotics Prosecution was assigned to conduct ongoing investigations and take the necessary legal measures in the case.
