Court records show the case began when the husband filed a complaint through a smart application alleging that his wife had assaulted him. Authorities referred him to hospital for a medical examination. Shortly afterwards, hospital staff filed a separate report after the wife arrived at the same facility claiming she too had been assaulted, with her injuries documented through an official medical assessment.

In police statements, the husband said the altercation took place inside his father's home and initially indicated he did not wish to press charges. He later reversed his position at the hospital, telling investigators that his wife had left the house with her brother without his consent. He also alleged a history of ongoing disputes and claimed he had been assaulted by his wife on previous occasions, while denying he had attacked her and pointing to medical evidence confirming his own injuries.

The wife rejected her husband's account. She told authorities the argument escalated during a discussion about their disputes when she mentioned seeking assistance from her brother, at which point her husband physically assaulted her and used abusive language. She said his sisters intervened before leaving, and that his father subsequently forced her out of the house, prompting her to call her brother. Her husband later agreed to take her to hospital for a medical check-up.

Medical reports presented to the court recorded that the husband sustained pain in his left knee and superficial scratches, while the wife suffered pain in her neck and both hands along with redness in one hand. All injuries were classified as minor, with a recovery period of no more than 20 days.

During hearings, both parties denied the charges. The wife stated she had acted in self-defence, alleging her husband had choked her and pinned her down, and that she scratched his leg while attempting to push him away. Both sides were represented by legal counsel and submitted written defence arguments; the Public Prosecution maintained the charges throughout.

The court found the charge of mutual assault proven against both parties, citing their conflicting statements, corroborating medical reports and supporting circumstantial evidence. It noted that assessing the credibility of evidence falls within its judicial authority.

Both individuals were convicted and ordered to pay a fine of Dh3,000 each, along with court fees. The sentence was nonetheless suspended for three years from the date the ruling becomes final. The court stated the decision was issued with leniency, taking into account the circumstances of the case and the aim of preserving the marital relationship.
