23 Suspects Arrested as UAE Dismantles Cross-Emirates Drug Network
UAE authorities have arrested 23 suspects and seized significant quantities of narcotics after foiling a coordinated drug trafficking operation, gulfnews.com reports.
The operation was overseen by the Federal Narcotics Prosecution and the National Anti-Narcotics Authority, working in coordination with Ras Al Khaimah Police General Headquarters and other security agencies across the country.
The initial breakthrough came after authorities received information that narcotics were concealed at a location in one of the emirates. Specialised teams launched search and investigation efforts and, following the issuance of legal warrants, arrested two suspects in the act of attempting to transport drugs.
Interrogations revealed that the suspects had received instructions from a key individual based outside the UAE, who was directing the distribution network from abroad. Investigators then identified and arrested 11 additional suspects linked to the overseas ringleader and involved in drug distribution inside the country.
Separate follow-up operations in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Ajman resulted in the arrest of 10 further suspects, along with additional seizures of narcotics and psychotropic substances. Authorities also uncovered a storage site holding large quantities of marijuana, hash oil and synthetic cannabinoid materials.
A dedicated Federal Narcotics Prosecution team was assembled to manage investigations and legal procedures. All suspects and seized materials were referred to forensic laboratories for examination.
Officials stated the operation demonstrates the close coordination between prosecution authorities and security agencies in targeting organised crime and applying deterrent legal measures.
