A man originally from St Vincent has confessed to multiple driving offences after a June collision on an Antiguan highway left a well-known local rider with severe injuries.

A St Vincent-born man has owned up to several motoring violations following a June crash that left a prominent local rider badly wounded, the Antigua Observer reports.

Kishroy Harry, who resides in St Johnson's Village, stood before Chief Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel at the St John's Magistrates' Court. He acknowledged that he had handled a vehicle in a hazardous fashion, taken someone else's automobile without asking, driven without proper documentation authorising him to do so, and operated the car while it had no policy in place.

The magistrate decided to keep him behind bars until the first day of July, at which point he will receive his penalty.

The episode unfolded on the twentieth day of June on Sir Sydney Walling Highway, in the vicinity of the Transport Board Inspection Centre, during the morning period. Browne, a recognised figure in cycling circles, was struck while on the road.

Police apprehended Harry on the twenty-first, believing he was attempting to depart the island. The automobile in question was a blue Toyota Vitz that had been hired out and was allegedly being used without the hirer's consent.
