Two male suspects have been detained in connection with a shooting along Queen Elizabeth Highway that injured a man and damaged several parked vehicles, antigua.news reports. The incident occurred shortly after 1:00 a.m. on Sunday, April 26.

According to preliminary investigations, a 28-year-old man from Grays Farm was in the vicinity of "Timmy Times" when a silver vehicle travelling east to west passed the area. Several gunshots were fired from the vehicle, and the man was struck during the incident.

The injured man is currently receiving medical care at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre for gunshot wounds. Medical staff have confirmed his injuries are not life-threatening, though he is expected to require surgery.

A number of parked vehicles in the surrounding area also sustained damage from the gunfire. Officers subsequently recovered a firearm and multiple spent shells at the scene.

The Police Administration has sought to reassure the public that the incident is neither gang-related nor politically motivated. Authorities also stated the shooting is not connected to an event held at the Rising Sun Grounds the previous evening.

The police strongly condemned the act of violence and urged members of the public to assist in maintaining peace and security.
