A resident of Cashew Hill will spend the next 12 months behind bars after confessing to a narcotics offence in the High Court of Justice.

Pernod Samuel stood before Justice John Spencer and entered a guilty plea. The conviction stems from a police raid on his dwelling on May 13, 2023, during which authorities recovered more than 15 pounds of cannabis with a street value exceeding $30,000.

Samuel lived at the address with his spouse and his father. During the warranted search, investigators reportedly observed marijuana plants suspended from lines in the lounge. In one sleeping quarters, they allegedly found a clear plastic sack holding vacuum-sealed bundles of the drug, plus a vacuum-sealing device. A digital weighing scale was also reportedly retrieved from an automobile.

Initially, Samuel and his wife were jointly accused of cannabis possession, possession with intent to supply, and trafficking. Prosecutors later dropped the case against the woman, and the charges against Samuel’s father were dismissed at an earlier stage.
