Law enforcement is examining two distinct theft cases at commercial properties in different parts of the island, involving stolen timber and shop merchandise.

Officers are examining two unrelated theft incidents that took place at commercial properties in separate parts of the island.

The first case involves a renovation site located where Cross Street meets Nevis Street. Someone entered the premises and removed a load of wood. Detectives who inspected the location did not discover any damage indicating a break-in, which has led them to suspect the culprit may have possessed a key. Officials have not yet calculated how much material was taken or what it is worth.

The second matter concerns a mini-mart on Buckley Line that was targeted during the predawn hours of June 22. The offender or offenders smashed through locked doors or windows and seized a till drawer, several cigarette lighters, and other stock. Police studied security video and scoured the neighborhood, but they did not locate the missing goods. The financial loss is still being assessed.

Both probes remain active.
