A drive-by shooting at a Checker Hall bar left Romario Archer dead and nine people injured during a Sunday night karaoke event.

A Sunday evening social event in St Lucy ended in bloodshed when shooters targeted a bar where patrons had assembled for karaoke, leaving one person dead and nine more wounded.

The life lost was that of Romario Archer, a 31-year-old man from Pie Corner in the same parish. The violence erupted at approximately 10:50 p.m. at Fryers Well in Checker Hall.

Early reports suggest that individuals inside a dark-hued motor vehicle passed by the location and fired repeatedly at the crowd. The attack caused injuries to Archer and nine other people, all of whom needed emergency medical attention.

Archer did not survive his injuries and passed away at a privately run medical institution. The other casualties are currently receiving care at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

The investigation is being led by officers stationed at Crab Hill. They are encouraging anyone who may have witnessed the shooting or who holds any relevant details to step forward.
