Man killed in Haynesville stabbing, police seek witnesses
A man died from a stab wound following an altercation between two men in Haynesville, St James, on Tuesday afternoon, barbadostoday.bb reports. A person of interest is currently assisting investigators with the probe.
Acting Inspector Ryan Brathwaite, Public Affairs and Communications Officer for the Barbados Police Service, said police operations control received a call at 2:50 p.m. on 19 May 2026 from an anonymous caller reporting a stabbing in the area.
"That call was from an anonymous caller who stated that there was a stabbing at Haynesville, St James and a male appeared to be dead," Insp Brathwaite told reporters at the scene.
Police units and ambulance personnel were dispatched to the location, where emergency responders found the man unresponsive. A medical doctor visited the scene, examined the body, and pronounced death.
Preliminary investigations indicate the stabbing stemmed from a dispute between two males. "As a result, one of those males received a stab wound and succumbed to injuries at the scene," Brathwaite said.
Police have appealed to anyone who witnessed the incident or holds relevant information to contact the Holetown police station at 419-1700 or police emergency at 211.
