A man from Jamaica aged 36 has been ordered to pay a substantial penalty in Barbados following his admission of guilt on narcotics counts. Andre O'shane Williams, whose home address is in York Town, May Pen, Clarendon, was apprehended by local law enforcement on October 17.

As reported by IRIE FM, officers laid four separate accusations: having marijuana in his control, moving it unlawfully, intending to sell it, and smuggling it across the border. The haul tipped the scales at about 2.6 kilograms — nearly six pounds — valued at roughly BBD $20,800 on the street.

When brought before a magistrate, Williams acknowledged responsibility for every charge. The judicial officer imposed a monetary sanction of BBD $15,000, to be settled without delay. Non-payment would result in a custodial sentence of nine months at the island's prison facility.
