St James Resident Admits to Unlawful Gun and Bullet Possession

A man from Thorpes in St James has pleaded guilty to keeping a pistol and several rounds without the necessary legal authorisation. Inyah Iroyal Jones appeared in the No. 5 Supreme Court before Justice Pamela Beckles and admitted that on 16 September 2022 he was in possession of a Taurus .380 ACP handgun without holding a valid firearm licence. He also acknowledged having four rounds of ammunition without the proper permit.

The prosecution’s side was presented by State Counsel Maya Kellman, who accepted the plea on behalf of the Crown. Justice Beckles directed that a report on the offender’s background be prepared for sentencing purposes, and that any period already spent in custody be documented. The hearing was postponed until 16 June, when the full facts will be outlined prior to the sentence being handed down.
