"What happened this morning, for us, we can say it was a revengeful act," Boyce told reporters. He added that the confrontation stemmed from a long-standing dispute and was not a random occurrence.

The commissioner stressed that the episode should not diminish the force's record of achievements. He described the operation as carefully planned rather than spontaneous, which prompted senior investigators to lead the case. He expressed confidence that those responsible would be brought to justice quickly.

Prime Minister Mottley echoed these sentiments, praising officers for preventing many violent incidents over recent years. She also revealed that potential threats had been thwarted during the Christmas season.
