Ten people suffered injuries when shooters struck near a Bridgetown dock shortly after 3 a.m. Saturday, targeting guests who had just finished a party voyage aboard the Dream Chaser 2.

Police Commissioner Richard Boyce told a media briefing that detectives believe the violence was intentional payback rather than chance. He characterised it as a vendetta between opposing sides locked in an extended quarrel. The attackers reportedly lurked until travellers began leaving the ship, then fired on them.

Boyce emphasised that the strike appeared meticulously arranged, prompting the force to deploy its most experienced investigators. He expressed confidence that the culprits would be caught quickly.

At the same briefing, Prime Minister Mia Mottley voiced appreciation for the police, saying officers have stopped a large number of dangerous situations in recent times. She added that several additional risks were neutralised over the Christmas holidays.

Boyce also defended the service’s overall record, arguing that one violent episode should not obscure sustained progress in keeping the country safe.
