An imposter communication masquerading as an official alert from the Barbados Cyber Crime Security Authority and the National Commissioner of Police is making the rounds on the internet, nationnews.com reports.

The fabricated message tells recipients that their digital conduct has been flagged for breaching information protection statutes. It instructs them to reply without delay to something labeled a "Cyber Crime File," complete with a reference code. The scam goes on to claim that severe consequences will follow inside one day.

To appear credible, the hoax attributes the warning to Richard Boyce, the sitting Commissioner of Police, and provides a Bridgetown address on Roebuck Street in the parish of St. Michael.

The Barbados Police Service has flatly denied any connection to the message. Representatives stressed that officers never dispatch enforcement warnings through digital channels. A detailed probe into who created and distributed the forgery is now underway.
