Proceedings against two men from Christ Church came to an end at the No. 5 Supreme Court when the injured party announced he would not pursue the case further.

Rokarl Elwyn Lewis, from Harpers Land in Sargeants Village, and Brandon Rommell Allamby, from Downes Land in St Lawrence, had been accused over an incident dated 25 August 2020. The charges alleged they had illegally harmed Zakwon Jones with intent to cause grave injury, and that they had also wounded him unlawfully and with malice on that occasion.

When the hearing began, Jones informed the bench that he had decided to abandon the prosecution. He stressed this was his own choice, made without intimidation or outside pressure. Addressing the court, he explained that he had not seen whoever shot him and expressed a desire to leave the episode behind and get on with his life.

Following this statement, Justice Pamela Beckles ruled that the prosecution could not continue, formally ending the matter for want of prosecution.

Acting State Counsel Maya Kellman had been handling the case for the Crown.
