Murder trial dates expected in September for two Barbados men charged in 2021 killing

Two men face murder charges in 2021 Ramdas killing; Supreme Court date set for September

Two men charged in connection with a 2021 murder are expected to receive trial dates later this year, barbadostoday.bb reports.

Akinola Cumberbatch and Dontai Harding stand accused of killing Tamesh Ramdas on April 9, 2021, and of using a firearm without a valid licence. The pair also face charges of unlawfully and maliciously engaging in conduct that placed Keamo Hurdle, Chad Haynes, Davion Haynes, Daniel Odle and Thierry Lynch in danger of death or serious bodily harm.

The two men appeared before Justice Carlisle Greaves in No. 3 Supreme Court on Wednesday. The case was adjourned until September 14, at which point trial dates are expected to be formally scheduled.

Acting Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Krystal Delaney is handling the prosecution. Cumberbatch, of Lammings Housing Area, St Joseph, is represented by defence attorney Simon Clarke. Harding, of Sergeant Street, St John, is represented by Senior Counsel Angella Mitchell-Gittens.
