A man from Michigan who was held by authorities in the Bahamas over his spouse's disappearance has spoken out for the first time since his release, saying he remains convinced she is still living and intends to keep looking for her, ClickOnDetroit reported.

Brian Hooker addressed the media following his release from police custody, where he had been held in connection with the vanishing of his wife Lynette. She has not been seen since April 4, when her husband told officials she went over the side of a small boat during an evening voyage.

Hooker stated he continues to hold out hope that his wife will be found alive. He also indicated he plans to resume efforts to locate her.

The case remains under investigation by both Bahamian police and the U.S. Coast Guard.
