Two Nighttime Hold-Ups in Nassau; Young Suspect Caught with Stolen Honda

A pair of armed street crimes unfolded on Monday evening in Nassau. In one, a motorist was attacked after a fender-bender; in the other, a gunman took a man's car. A 20-year-old was later detained when officers intercepted the stolen vehicle.

Detectives are examining two armed street crimes that happened on Monday, June 29, in Nassau. In the first, a driver was attacked following a minor crash; in the second, a man lost his car to a gunman. Officers later located the stolen automobile and detained a 20-year-old male in connection with the second case.

The initial crime took place just after 7:30 p.m. on Beatrice Avenue. The victim said he was behind the wheel when his vehicle collided with a silver Nissan Note carrying four males. They climbed out, and one—brandishing a blade—struck the motorist before making off with $2,500. The quartet then vanished.

The second episode occurred shortly past 9:00 p.m. The victim had been sitting in his silver 2011 Honda Fit, registration AV5458, parked outside an acquaintance's dwelling on Grace Avenue. Two males on a motorbike rode by, then doubled back. The passenger dismounted, allegedly armed with a pistol, and demanded cash.

When the victim said he carried none, the assailant frisked him, lifted the keys from his pocket, and sped away in the Honda.

Acting on intelligence, Mobile Division personnel went to Winds Street, stopped the stolen car, and took a 20-year-old man into custody linked to the incident.

Inquiries into both crimes are continuing.
