On Wednesday evening, a man ran from law enforcement during a patrol near Lyon Road, off Shirley Street. A bag containing a powerful firearm and bullets was later discovered in vegetation close by.

According to Eyewitness News, the incident unfolded shortly after 9:00 p.m. on 1st July, 2026. Members of the Central Division were carrying out a standard mobile patrol when they came across a man clad in dark attire acting oddly within a yard.

The moment he noticed the patrol, the individual sprinted toward the east and got away.

The officers combed the location where he had vanished and came across a duffle bag tucked into bushes. Within it sat a high-powered weapon concealed inside a black garbage bag, accompanied by ammunition.

Authorities seized the gun and rounds for evidentiary processing.

The probe remains active.
