Detectives in Canada's capital city have taken eleven people into custody following an undercover digital operation aimed at individuals seeking paid sexual contact with children.

Per Global News, Ottawa Police Service members created fake online profiles portraying underage individuals. They then engaged with people who appeared willing to pay for sexual acts with minors.

Every suspect was apprehended within Ottawa's jurisdiction. Collectively, the group faces twenty-six criminal accusations. Among the charges is procuring sexual services from someone below eighteen years of age in exchange for money or other consideration.

Because of a court-ordered publication restriction and the continuing nature of the probe, officials did not disclose identifying information about those arrested.

Investigators urge anyone possessing knowledge about trafficking or exploitation of young people to reach out to police.
