A Saturday traffic intervention by northern police led to the detention of two males from Ontario on suspicion of drug distribution and weapons offences. The operation unfolded in Yellowknife, capital of the Northwest Territories, as detailed in a report by CBC.

Mounties halted an automobile carrying passengers aged 18 and 33. When one traveller misrepresented who he was, officers examined the automobile more closely. That inspection yielded crack cocaine in an amount officers assessed as being for resale rather than personal consumption.

Investigators next secured the suspects' temporary lodging on McMahon Court. At that location, a search produced approximately 170 grams of what is believed to be crack cocaine, currency totalling in excess of twenty-two thousand dollars, and a loaded sidearm. The weapon was subsequently identified as having been unlawfully taken in America.

The accused now confronts various accusations tied to controlled substances and illegal firearm possession. A judge ordered them held in custody.
