Police have accused three people of carrying out dozens of break-ins at upscale condominiums around Toronto and York Region, laying 150 counts and retrieving merchandise valued at roughly one million dollars, according to Global News.
Detectives began the inquiry, dubbed Project Compass, during the autumn of 2025 after the Major Crime Unit at 14 Division noticed a pattern of residential unit invasions. The accused reportedly dressed as labourers to gain daytime access to high-rise dwellings, then snatched small but costly possessions.
Among the 2,500-plus articles reclaimed are timepieces, bullion, commemorative coins, paper currency from several nations, and sentimental family treasures. Investigators appraise the entire cache at between one and one-and-a-half million Canadian dollars.
Detective-Sergeant Bruno Miron told journalists that the crew is tied to twenty-one separate incidents inside Toronto, plus another eight to ten just beyond its borders reaching back to May of last year.
The trail eventually led to a second-hand store in the Queen and Church neighbourhood, which officers suspect served as a clearing house. Inspector Joseph Matys stated that the stolen articles were allegedly liquidated through this outlet, with the profits converted to cash. A raid on the premises turned up the thousands of pieces now sitting in evidence lockers.
So far, no one connected to the shop has been prosecuted, though Miron hinted that the proprietor could be implicated shortly. That segment of the file is still active.
The arrests trace back to late March, when detectives carried out five simultaneous searches of private residences and motor vehicles. Those raids yielded costumes, pry bars and other intrusion instruments, additional suspected plunder, and a car thought to have transported the offenders.
The formal accusations levelled against the trio include scheming to commit an indictable offence, wearing a disguise with criminal purpose, unlawfully entering dwellings, and holding proceeds of illicit activity.
Because a large portion of the recovered belongings remain unclaimed, the force has created a dedicated webpage where possible owners can scan categorized photographs and lodge recovery requests. An investigator will follow up with each claimant.
Commanders believe additional residents may come forward and further indictments could materialize as the probe continues.
