Third arrest made in Vaughan double homicide

York Regional Police have arrested a third man in connection with the fatal double shooting that claimed two lives in Vaughan, Ont., on the evening of May 13, cbc.ca reports.

Pasquale Casciato, 49, and Christian Belsito, 34, were shot dead outside a home in the city. Investigators later located a stolen blue SUV believed to have been used by the suspects before and after the shooting — found burned and abandoned near Huntington Road and Kirby Road.

Investigative efforts identified three men believed to have been occupants of that vehicle.

Earlier this week, a 27-year-old Toronto man and a 55-year-old Windsor man were taken into custody. A 48-year-old Windsor man remained at large until Thursday, when police arrested him in Windsor.

The 48-year-old now faces two counts of first-degree murder and arson causing property damage. The 27-year-old Toronto man faces the same murder and arson charges, as well as a count of making or possessing an explosive substance. The 55-year-old Windsor man faces charges including accessory after the fact to murder and arson causing property damage.

Police confirmed Friday that the investigation remains ongoing. Witnesses who have not yet spoken to investigators, or who hold video footage from the night of the shooting, are asked to come forward.
