A former Air Canada captain faces criminal charges after investigators discovered he allegedly operated aircraft using falsified credentials for years. Authorities say the 59-year-old man flew more than nine hundred flights without holding the proper licence for his rank.

According to police in Ontario's Peel Region, Geoffrey Wall advanced to the captain's position in 2009 despite lacking the required certification. He allegedly continued piloting large commercial jets until stepping down in 2025. The deception came to light only when a standard review at Toronto Pearson Airport in March 2025 flagged problems with his paperwork.

Peel Region's deputy police chief, Nick Milinovich, compared the situation to an unqualified medical professional performing advanced procedures. The allegations have sparked serious questions about how airlines verify pilot qualifications and whether existing safeguards are sufficient to catch credential fraud.

The accused now faces charges related to forgery and fraud in connection with the scheme.
