Police have taken two ground-handling staff members from Air Canada into custody, suspecting them of playing a part in a narcotics scheme centered on Montréal-Trudeau airport. On Wednesday, the RCMP’s federal and airport policing team revealed that searches are underway at a pair of houses, an automobile, and the carrier’s workplace in Dorval.

According to investigators, the duo allegedly schemed to evade safety checks and transport suitcases within protected parts of the terminal, thereby supporting the inward flow of cocaine and the outward shipment of cannabis. The inquiry kicked off in May 2026 when border agents at the airport discovered roughly 62½ kilos of cocaine stuffed into four rucksacks aboard an aircraft that had landed from the Dominican resort city of Punta Cana. Over the course of the continuing operation, law enforcement also confiscated about 56 kilos of pot.

Both individuals will face questioning before being let go as the judicial process continues. The force indicated that studying the collected evidence might yet produce further detentions and accusations.
