B.C. MLA Jordan Kealy faces sexual assault charge in Fort St. John

Independent MLA Jordan Kealy has been charged with one count of sexual assault over alleged offences in 2024. His first court appearance is set for July 6.

B.C. Independent MLA charged with sexual assault in Fort St. John

Jordan Kealy, the Independent Member of the Legislative Assembly for Peace River North, has been charged with one count of sexual assault, Vancouver Sun Crime reports. The B.C. Prosecution Service announced the charge on Thursday.

According to the service, the alleged offences took place between Jan. 1 and Sept. 20, 2024. Kealy was formally charged in Fort St. John on Wednesday, with his first appearance in provincial court scheduled for July 6.

Vancouver lawyer Gail Barnes has been appointed as special prosecutor to oversee the investigation into the allegations. The special prosecutor's office has stated it will not be releasing any further information at this time.

None of the allegations has been proven in court.

Kealy currently sits as an independent member after leaving the B.C. Conservative Party last year alongside MLA Tara Armstrong. The two departed in solidarity with MLA Dallas Brodie, who had been ejected from the party following comments she made about residential schools.
