Global News Crime reports that the Canada Border Services Agency arrested one person and seized 22 illegal firearms following a search of a residence in Sooke, British Columbia, on April 22.

CBSA agents and police emergency response officers executed the search after a prior investigation. The operation uncovered 15 long guns and seven handguns, along with eight suppressors in various stages of assembly.

Authorities also recovered parts used to convert firearms into fully automatic weapons, an undisclosed quantity of illicit drugs, and a bulletproof vest.

The arrested individual has since been released pending further investigation. Authorities are reviewing the evidence to determine whether charges will be laid.

No additional details about the seizure have been made public.
