Two men were shot dead and five others wounded during a gunfight between two groups at a street festival in Toronto, Canada, on Saturday evening.

The Toronto Police Service confirmed on Monday that the fatal victims — Shaquan Quashie, 25, and Cesar Vernaza, 20 — were the intended targets of the shooting. The five remaining injured individuals were bystanders caught in the crossfire, according to police chief Myron Demkiw.

The incident occurred around 20:00 local time on Saturday (01:00 Sunday in Lisbon) during the festival. Officers recovered two firearms at the scene.

Authorities have not announced any arrests and are continuing the investigation. Demkiw appealed to witnesses who may have video footage or other relevant information to come forward and assist police.
