Murder charge laid after eight-year Pitt Meadows cold-case investigation

A first-degree murder charge has been laid in connection with the death of a man whose body was discovered near the dikes in Pitt Meadows more than eight years ago, Vancouver Sun Crime reports.

On the afternoon of April 30, 2018, Ridge Meadows RCMP received a report of a body in the 14500-block of Hale Road. The victim was subsequently identified as Ian Roberts, 43, of Delta. Around the same time, Langley RCMP located Roberts's red 1996 GMC Jimmy.

On Thursday, Miikael Tattoo King — formerly known as Michael Branden Anderson — was charged with first-degree murder and obstruction of justice. Tattoo King is 45 years old.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) led the investigation. Sgt. Freda Fong of IHIT said in a statement that investigators had been "relentless in their pursuit to piece together the circumstances surrounding the murder." She added that the team identified key information about Roberts's cause of death and the scene where the killing allegedly took place.

Investigators described the inquiry as "a lengthy and highly complex investigation that demanded years of dedicated work." The killing is considered targeted, and authorities say Roberts and his alleged killer were known to each other.

"Over the past eight years, IHIT investigators were relentless in their pursuit to piece together the circumstances surrounding the murder," Fong said.
