Revenu Québec has imposed fines totalling $927,000 on a cleaning company in the greater Montreal area and two men linked to its management, according to noovo.info. The primary target is Nettoyage R-9 Plus, formerly located on Baldwin Street in Montreal and specialising in ventilation duct cleaning.

Michel Cadieux, 72, from Saint-Jérôme, and Bobby Guillaume Fournier, 30, from Montreal, are each facing fines of just over $300,000. The remaining balance will be borne directly by the company.

Searches carried out in 2023 allowed Revenu Québec to uncover the scheme: Cadieux acted as de facto administrator, whilst Fournier, the sole shareholder registered with the Enterprise Register, played the role of nominee. The two men also failed to file their tax returns and to remit taxes collected from the sale of their services. Both pleaded guilty, Revenu Québec specified in a statement published on Friday.

"Full recovery by Quebec of the tax revenues owed to it represents a priority for Revenu Québec," the statement said. "It is a matter of fairness with respect to the vast majority of the population as well as businesses that pay their fair share of taxes and duties."
