Three people wound up in handcuffs after law enforcement searched a home in Kingston, Ontario, where they found materials for producing and distributing highly dangerous opioids alongside several weapons, as reported by The Kingston Whig-Standard.

The probe was spearheaded by the municipality's street crime division, which enlisted help from the emergency response team. Investigators first obtained a warrant on June 17 to enter the property, situated close to where Leroy Grant Drive meets Sir John A. Macdonald Boulevard. The following morning, they carried out the raid.

Once inside, detectives located batches of fentanyl and carfentanil — both substances known for their lethal potency even in minuscule amounts. Evidence suggested the space was being utilized as a processing site to get these chemicals ready for distribution to buyers.

The two primary targets of the inquiry were inside when officers breached the residence. Neither resisted, and both were immediately detained. They were expected to appear before a judicial officer on June 19 for a hearing on whether they could be freed pending trial.

A third person showed up while the raid was still active. Detectives concluded he had intended to purchase narcotics at the location. He was also apprehended and held for the same type of court appearance.

Beyond the drugs, the search yielded a loaded crossbow, a bullet-resistant vest that had been concealed, and an unusual handgun constructed to resemble a credit card. This firearm was capable of firing .22-calibre rounds.

A high-ranking inspector within the force issued a statement commending the teamwork displayed during the operation and expressing appreciation for the officers' commitment to shielding residents from harm.
