Fentanyl trafficking probe leads to Montreal Street raid in Kingston

According to quintenews.com, the Kingston Police Street Crime Unit launched an investigation earlier this spring into individuals suspected of trafficking fentanyl within the city.

The inquiry led investigators to obtain a search warrant under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act for a residence on Montreal Street. The Emergency Response Unit executed the warrant on Thursday, taking two occupants into custody.

A search of the property yielded fentanyl, crystal methamphetamine, a digital scale, packaging materials, and a quantity of cash believed to be proceeds of crime. Officers also seized a conducted energy weapon and replica firearms.

A 34-year-old and a 38-year-old have each been charged with three counts of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking — covering fentanyl and crystal methamphetamine — as well as possession of property obtained by crime.

Both individuals were held for a bail hearing and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice.
