Two individuals were detained following an early morning vehicle inspection in Toronto's Regent Park neighborhood. The encounter happened shortly after midnight on May 9 along Dundas Street East, close to Sackville Street.

Personnel from the local division's response team were on patrol when they decided to examine an automobile and its passengers. During this examination, law enforcement allegedly found a firearm that was ready to discharge.

Investigators later secured judicial authorization to conduct additional searches. A more thorough inspection of the automobile reportedly revealed an unspecified amount of an illicit stimulant and money.

A male and female, both thirty years old and residing in Toronto, were placed under arrest. The man faces allegations including operating a motor vehicle with a suspended permit, keeping a restricted weapon without proper documentation, transporting a loaded firearm, mishandling ammunition, carrying a dangerous instrument, altering a weapon's identifying marks, holding a controlled substance with intent to distribute, and acquiring profits from illegal activity under five thousand dollars.

The woman is accused of comparable violations involving unauthorized weapon possession, careless handling of firearms, and drug trafficking.
