A 32-year-old Hungarian father of three was beaten with a stone and then run over twice with a car in Toronto, Canada, following a dispute over early morning noise. The victim, identified only as Erik, had emigrated from Sajószentpéter, Hungary, and lived in the Canadian city with his wife and children.

According to Index, relatives speaking anonymously told RTL Híradó that the violence erupted after weeks of disturbances. A group had been making loud noise outside the family's residence around 6 a.m. on Sunday, with music blaring throughout the night. The victim had previously asked them to keep the volume down on multiple occasions.

On the morning of the attack, the group allegedly began throwing stones at the family's door and attempted to tear open the balcony door. Erik sent his wife and children to safety and called his brother for assistance. He then went outside to try to calm the situation.

Witnesses reported that a woman struck Erik from behind with a large rock, causing him to fall to his knees. One of the male attackers then got into a vehicle, accelerated, and drove over the victim twice. Erik's brother, who had arrived to help, was also struck by the car but survived and was taken to hospital.

Erik died at the scene. The assailants fled in two vehicles, described as a dark grey BMW and a white BMW.

Two days after the killing, two suspected perpetrators — an 18-year-old and a 23-year-old — voluntarily surrendered to police. If convicted of homicide, both could face life imprisonment.

Local police commander Jack Gurr stated that the neighborhood had never seen an attack of such brutality, which had deeply shaken residents. According to the news report, bystanders recorded video footage of the assault, which investigators have seized and are using to identify additional participants.

The victim's funeral was scheduled for Monday in Toronto.
