CP24 reports that a 28-year-old man wanted on a Canada-wide warrant has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with the fatal stabbing of Chay Wilson, 32, of Mississauga.

The stabbing occurred on May 19 at around 12:15 p.m. near Hurontario Street and Agnes Street, just north of Dundas Street. Peel Regional Police responded to reports of an altercation in a nearby parking lot, where Wilson was stabbed during a fight with the suspect.

Bystanders performed life-saving measures before emergency services arrived, police said. Wilson was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators identified the suspect as Jerome Edwards, 28, of no fixed address. A Canada-wide warrant was issued for his arrest on a charge of second-degree murder following the incident. Last Friday, Edwards was taken into custody in Etobicoke, near The Queensway and Kipling Avenue.

The charge has since been elevated to first-degree murder. Edwards was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
