Anti-drug operation in Bas-Saint-Laurent: 70 police officers deployed

The Sûreté du Québec is conducting a major operation against drug trafficking in the Bas-Saint-Laurent and Quebec City regions. More than 70 police officers are mobilised.

Raids against drug trafficking network in Bas-Saint-Laurent

The Major Crime Investigation Division in Rimouski is currently conducting an operation against drug trafficking in the Bas-Saint-Laurent and Quebec City regions, according to sq.gouv.qc.ca.

The intervention mobilises more than 70 officers from the Sûreté du Québec, including members of the Tactical Intervention Group. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) is also collaborating on the operation, which targets a criminal organisation active mainly in Bas-Saint-Laurent. The investigation was initiated in 2025.

The raids primarily target five residences as well as vehicles linked to members of the network, notably in the sectors of Rivière-Bleue, Saint-Marc-du-Lac-Long and Quebec City.

The operation is part of the CENTAURE strategy, whose mandate is to exert constant pressure on organised crime and to combat armed violence in Quebec. This strategy coordinates the efforts of partner police forces at the national, regional and local levels, targeting the supply, importation, distribution and illegal possession of firearms.
