Youth Held Following Domestic Fatality in Eastern Quebec
A dwelling in Sherbrooke became the scene of a deadly family conflict on Thursday evening, resulting in the detention of an 18-year-old.
Neighbours alerted municipal police around 9 p.m. after hearing disturbances from inside the residence. Responding personnel found a middle-aged woman with severe trauma consistent with being hit by a solid implement, according to spokesperson Benoit Pellerin.
Medics rushed the 41-year-old to hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. A younger female relative present at the scene — understood to be the suspect's sibling — sustained a minor arm injury and received treatment. Her prognosis is favourable.
Investigators and forensic teams secured the property overnight. The teenage suspect was apprehended without incident. Authorities have withheld additional facts to safeguard the integrity of the probe.
If confirmed as homicide, this would represent Sherbrooke's first such case this year.
