Gunfire erupted in a suburban Ontario community on Thursday night, leaving one individual dead and a killer at large.

Members of the Peel Regional Police service rushed to Sandalwood Parkway and Crown Victoria Drive in Brampton after receiving emergency calls around 7:10 p.m. The reports indicated shots had been fired in the vicinity.

When officers reached the location, they found a victim who had been struck by bullets. Medical personnel called to the scene attempted to assist, but the wounds were too severe and the person was declared deceased.

The attacker was no longer present when law enforcement got there, having escaped beforehand. Detectives are now pursuing leads to track down the individual responsible and understand what triggered the deadly encounter.

As reported by Global News, authorities have not yet disclosed the identity of the deceased or released any description of a possible perpetrator. The case is being handled as a homicide investigation, with police urging witnesses or anyone with relevant information to contact them.
