Death in Kensington town pond under investigation
A 56-year-old man was discovered dead in the town pond in Kensington, Prince Edward Island, on Thursday, cbc.ca reports.
Jim Gotell, deputy chief of the Kensington Police Service, said the cause of death has not yet been determined. No foul play is suspected and there is no risk to public safety, he added.
"We have no reason to believe there was anything suspicious about the death, but due to the circumstances and the way that the gentleman was found, we have some unanswered questions," Gotell said. "We're simply trying to determine what happened, and our hearts go out to the family who unfortunately lost a loved one."
The man was last seen fishing near the pond at approximately 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Police are asking anyone who was in the area between 6 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday morning, or who has any relevant information, to contact the Kensington Police Service at 902-836-4499.
