Brantford police have arrested a woman in connection with a stabbing that took place in January, wlwt.com reports. Officers took the suspect into custody at 6 a.m. on 3 June. She faces charges of aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and possession of a dangerous weapon, and was held pending a bail hearing.

The incident dates to 10 January, when officers were called to a bar at Market and Chatham streets at around 2:15 a.m. after reports of a stabbed woman. Investigators say a verbal dispute between two women inside the bar escalated and moved outside, where the victim was stabbed. She was taken to hospital and treated for injuries described as non-life-threatening.

In a separate investigation, Brantford police are looking into a series of overnight break-ins targeting garages and sheds in the Colborne Street West–Gilkison Street area. Officers are searching for a male suspect and believe additional victims in the neighbourhood may not yet have come forward.

Evidence gathered so far suggests the suspect may have sustained an injury during the break-ins. Police are urging residents to check their properties for signs of forced entry as well as blood stains or splatter around sheds, garages, gates and fences.

Authorities are also asking residents to review any security camera footage and report suspicious activity in the area.
