Montreal police have charged eleven individuals in connection with alleged events that preceded the deadly shooting of 15-year-old Nooran Rezayi by Longueuil officers last September.

Officers in Montreal have laid charges against eleven people tied to the circumstances surrounding the death of a teenager shot by police in Longueuil last year. Among those accused are four grown men and seven youths.

The incident that claimed Nooran Rezayi's life happened on September 21, 2024. Longueuil officers had been dispatched to respond to reports of a group of armed young people. During the police intervention, the fifteen-year-old was fatally wounded.

Every person now facing prosecution was between thirteen and seventeen at the time the alleged crimes occurred. Court appearances in youth proceedings are expected over coming months.

The range of accusations filed includes plotting a kidnapping, planning an unlawful confinement, conspiring to commit an assault, wearing a disguise with criminal intent, possessing an item meant to inflict injury, and taking part in a riotous assembly.

Montreal investigators limited their focus to what transpired before the officers opened fire. A separate examination of the police conduct itself remains under the authority of Quebec's Bureau des enquêtes indépendantes.
