Law enforcement in the Québec metropolis reported that at least one member of their force sustained wounds during the intervention. The operation commenced at approximately 11:30 in the morning and continued for some time.

Authorities disseminated an urgent public alert warning that the perpetrator possessed firearms and posed an immediate threat. Residents in the vicinity were instructed to remain inside their residences, secure entry points, and steer clear of the zone surrounding De Courtrai and Trans Island Avenues.
