A man from Saguenay, Quebec, who had evaded law enforcement for more than three years, is now in custody following his arrest in southern Spain.

The 36-year-old suspect was detained in Marbella, a coastal resort city, according to an announcement by Quebec provincial police on Friday. Members of the European Operational Team, which operates under the European Union umbrella, carried out the operation. The precise date of the capture was not made public.

Since mid-February 2023, authorities across Canada had been searching for the individual. Warrants accused him of involvement in gangsterism, aggravated assault, abduction, unlawful detention, and arms dealing.

Investigators have linked the suspect to Dave "Pik" Turmel, the purported head of the Blood Family Mafia. Turmel was taken into custody in Italy in March 2025 and is currently facing extradition.
