A law enforcement officer lost his life during an early-morning raid in Toronto, Canada. The 43-year-old policeman succumbed to gunshot wounds sustained while executing a search warrant.

Toronto Police Chief Myron Demkiw confirmed that the operation took place in the morning hours local time. The raid was linked to an ongoing probe into shots fired at the US consulate in the city during March.

Initially, emergency responders reported two casualties following an exchange of gunfire, according to broadcaster CBC. Both individuals were transported to hospital. One was the veteran officer, who later died from his injuries. The second person was described as another suspect currently receiving medical treatment.

A teenager aged 19 remains on the run. Authorities believe this individual is armed and poses a threat to public safety. Whether this fugitive was the person who pulled the trigger remains unclear, the police chief stated.

The earlier incident at the US diplomatic mission occurred when two men arrived in a vehicle, exited, and opened fire on the building with handguns. Fortunately, nobody was injured in that attack. Canadian law enforcement had been investigating both events.
