According to sq.gouv.qc.ca, the National Squad for Combating Organised Crime (ENRCO) has been conducting a large-scale operation against drug trafficking in several regions of Quebec since yesterday, in collaboration with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), the Canada Border Services Agency, the Major Crime Investigation Division of the Sûreté du Québec, CN Police Service, the City of Lévis Police Service and the Saguenay Regional Mixed Squad.

The seizures primarily target vehicle dealerships in the Saguenay, the National Capital region, Chaudière-Appalaches and Rivière-du-Loup, as well as a CN sorting centre in Charny. An additional seizure was carried out in New Brunswick with the assistance of the RCMP.

The investigation, which began yesterday in Saguenay, revealed that packages of drugs were concealed in a specific model of vehicle before being sent to dealerships. The quantities seized and the type of drugs will be specified in a later communication from the authorities.

The ENRCO is mandated to specifically target the heads of organised crime. It brings together police officers from the Sûreté du Québec, the City of Quebec Police Service and the City of Lévis Police Service.
